“There’s something out in the fjord.” The big guy is coming to eat us all. Samuel Goldwyn Films has unveiled an official US trailer for the upcoming Norwegian creature feature action-horror movie Kraken, from the same Norwegian director as the disaster movie The Tunnel. This time they have awoken a monster dwelling within one of the Norway’s deepest fjords. Kraken follows marine biologist Johanne as she investigates odd occurrences linked to a local fjord. As deadly events unfold, she uncovers a terrifying myth lurking beneath the water’s surface – a giant, multi-armed monster ready to destroy everything. This legendary creature is ready to unleash havoc on those destroying the ecosystem – yet another climate change, environmentalist monster movie. Hell yes. 🦑 This stars Sara Khorami, Mikkel Bratt Silset, Ingvild Holthe Bygdnes, Øyvind Brandtzæg, Jenny Evensen, Steinar Klouman Hallert. Kraken already debuted in Norway last month and will hit US theaters and VOD in early 2026. They’re still keeping the final reveals of the big CGI monster under wraps – but there’s some nice giant tentacle arm shots in this trailer. Have a look below.

Johanne (starring Sara Khorami) is a marine biologist who is doing research on a fish farm in Vangsnes, a rural community located by the fjord, when she encounters several strange occurrences. Along with the brutal deaths of two local teenagers, all signs are pointing to the deep fjord; might there be more to the depths than the eye can see? At the bottom of Norway’s deepest fjord rests a mythical monster as large as a mountain, with a myriad of arms ready to crush and devour anything they can grab. Kraken is directed by Norwegian filmmaker Pål Øie, director of the films Dark Woods, Hidden, Villmark 2, Astrup: Catching the Flame, and The Tunnel previously. Co-directed by the cinematographer Sjur Aarthun directing his first film. The screenplay is written by Natasha Arthur, Vilde Eide, Kjersti Helen Rasmussen; from a story by Sjur Aarthun and Pål Øie. Produced by John Einar Hagen and Einar Loftesnes. This movie will open first in Norway starting October 24th, 2025 this fall. No US release date is set – arriving in early 2026. Curious?
