“There is nothing left to do now but live.” Warner Bros has unveiled the first teaser trailer for The Bride!, the highly anticipated creation from the mind of filmmaker Maggie Gyllenhaal (director of the excellent film The Lost Daughter). From director Maggie Gyllenhaal and starring Jessie Buckley & Christian Bale comes The Bride! A bold, iconoclastic take on one of the world’s most compelling stories. In 1930s Chicago, Frankenstein’s monster asks Dr. Euphronius to create a companion for him. They give life to a murdered woman known as “the Bride,” sparking romance, police interest and radical social change. Inspired by Mary Shelley’s classic tale, and the original Bride of Frankenstein horror movie from 1935, though this is clearly something brand new from Gyllenhaal’s mind. This stars Buckley & Bale, with Peter Sarsgaard, Annette Bening, Jake Gyllenhaal, and Penélope Cruz. It’s set to hit theaters in March 2026 – this is an early teaser with a glimpse of footage. Plenty of style & spunk to get everyone excited for it. My first impression is that this seems like a female Joker meets Bonnie & Clyde – has that vibe with these two monsters rollin’ out.
Here’s the first look teaser trailer (+ two posters) for Maggie Gyllenhaal’s movie The Bride!, via YouTube:
There’s a monster inside us all… A lonely Frankenstein (Christian Bale) travels to Chicago in the 1930s to ask groundbreaking scientist Dr. Euphronious (Annette Bening) to create a companion for him. So the two revive a murdered woman and The Bride (Jessie Buckley) is born. What ensues is beyond what either of them imagined: Murder! Possession! A wild and radical cultural movement! And outlaw lovers in a wild and combustible romance! The Bride! is directed by the acclaimed American actress / filmmaker Maggie Gyllenhaal, director of the film The Lost Daughter previously, and an episode of the series “Homemade”. The screenplay is also written by Gyllenhaal; inspired by Mary Shelley’s original “Frankenstein”. Produced by Emma Tillinger Koskoff, Talia Kleinhendler, Osnat Handelsman Keren, Maggie Gyllenhaal. With music composed by Hildur Gudnadóttir. Warner Bros sends Gyllenhaal’s The Bride movie in theaters nationwide (including IMAX) starting on March 6th, 2026 early next year. First impression? So who’s down for this?
