Last night we were watching a movie in our living room and my wife was doing some stretches on the floor in front of the TV. She suddenly complained about a burning plastic smell and started looking around trying to find the source. I saw our PS4 controllers in their charging dock flashing on and off rapidly and had her grab it and unplug it right away.

The controller dock was very warm to the touch and when she handed it to me, it started smoking in my hands and the smell got worse. I could tell that a small fire had started inside, so I threw it in a stock pot and my wife took it outside for the night.

We had this dock for 5 years without issues and the only sign we had of any problem was that one of our controllers wouldn't charge the other day via the dock (charged fine via USB and other controller worked on the dock after that).
