Realme officially revealed when we can expect the Realme GT 8 series. The Chinese launch is set for October 21 at 3:00 PM local time. In addition to the release date, Realme also teased some impressive specs.
Unfortunately, the teaser talks about the GT 8 Pro only, so we don’t know which features will transfer over to the vanilla GT 8 as well. In any case, the Pro is expected to come with a larger battery, new charging capabilities, and a slimmer and lighter body.

The GT 8 Pro’s battery will be upgraded from 6,500 mAh in the GT 7 Pro to 7,000 mAh, while retaining the super-fast 120W wired charging. This time around, the GT 8 Pro also features fast wireless charging, rated at 50W, and 10W reverse wireless charging. Bypass charging is also on the list of features.
Realme also reminds us that the GT 8 Pro can play well with other non-proprietary charging standards. For instance, the Pro will support 50W PPS PD, 44W UFCS and 36W PD.
Interestingly, the phone will be slimmer and lighter than its predecessor, tipping the scales at 214 grams and measuring 8.2mm in thickness, despite having a bigger battery and a wireless charging coil.
When it comes to performance, the GT 8 Pro will, of course, run on Qualcomm’s latest Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5. In fact, we’ve already tested a prototype in our office showing impressive raw performance.
The chipset will be coupled with a custom dedicated R1 gaming display chip. This isn’t the first time Realme has used such a chip, but this time it’s more capable. It can perform Super Resolution rendering and frame rate boost simultaneously, allowing you to enjoy games at QHD resolution while utilizing the 144Hz refresh rate display. The chip is said to be optimized for certain games and supports high refresh rate gaming in some titles like Valorant Mobile, Delta Action and Arena Breakout.
