HONOR has confirmed that it will launch the Magic V Flip 2 on August 21. The foldable phone will be the first in its category to feature a 200MP main camera. It will be supported by a 50MP ultrawide and a 50MP selfie camera.
Its 5,500mAh battery is also the largest ever in a flip foldable, alongside 80W wired and 50W wireless charging. That said, it remains for us to ask if the phone will ever reach global markets, since the first Magic V Flip never launched outside China.
Pre-orders for Magic V Flip 2 in China has started
Honor’s first Magic V Flip never left China as the brand tends to treat some of its niche devices as domestic experiments before committing to wider markets. To be fair, flip foldables are still a small category compared to bigger slabs or wider fold-style devices. We hope it’s not the same for its successor.

We spotted the Magic V Flip 2 on HONOR’s official Chinese store ahead of launch, complete with a one yuan pre-order promotion. The page makes it clear that stock is limited and it has been marked as “Hot sale, first come first served”.

Scrolling through the listing reveals multiple benefit pack placeholders, which suggests that you can grab more than one.
Alongside the phone’s reservation banner, the site also promotes a lineup of other HONOR products, from the Honor 400 series and Magic 7 phones to the MagicBook laptops, tablets, and even wearables like the Honor Watch Fit.

Magic V Flip 2 to arrive with commendable specs
No specifications were listed on the Magic V Flip 2’s webpage. But leaks from Digital that station and rumours before now have pointed to a Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 processor.
A 6.82-inch LTPO AMOLED main screen with ultra-thin glass, a four-inch cover display was also hinted at, whose durability the brand is not shy of hyping on their Weibo account.

They claim that it can withstand 350,000 folds with a crease under 50 micrometers. That’s about 150,000 folds short of Samsung’s recently announced Galaxy Z Fold 7. It’s rated for 500,000 folds under moderate conditions, and about on par with the crease depth Samsung worked to minimize on their latest UTG glass panels.
Honestly, it’s impressive, given that the V Flip 2 has tighter constraints in space for the hinge, a smaller body, and a thinner frame to distribute stress. The display also carries a 2868 x 1232 pixels resolution and 4320Hz PWM dimming.

Slimness is the goal
The Magic V Flip 2 is said to measure 167.1 x 75.6 x 6.9 mm when open and 15.5 mm thick when folded, with a weight of 204 grams. That makes it slightly slimmer and lighter than the first-gen model.
The original Magic V Flip measured 167.3 x 75.6 x 7.2 mm unfolded and 86.5 x 75.6 x 14.9 mm folded. So compared directly, the V Flip 2 has shaved off some thickness when open from 7.2 mm down to 6.9 mm, and while folded, it’s a little bit thicker at 15.5 mm versus 14.9 mm, which may just be down to hinge adjustments or the bigger battery.
